Same-Day Crowns Guarantee Immediate Transformation: Here’s How

Jun 01, 2021

Dental crowns have been used for quite some time to bring millions of smiles back to their former glory. They are an excellent restorative treatment that reinforces weak teeth, improves the appearance of teeth, and protects teeth from further damage.

Their versatility is what has earned them a favorite spot among dentists and patients. Crowns have evolved so much over the last decades. Our dentist in Fort Atkinson has a variety of options that can meet almost anyone’s needs.

Now, at Rock River Dental, we have taken it a notch higher and can transform your smile during a single visit. Our dentist whitewater offers same-day crowns near you for patients who desire to get their smiles revamped in a heartbeat.

Understanding Same-Day Crowns

Same-day crowns near you are no different from the traditional crowns. They are similar in every respect except one – time. Same-day crowns, also referred to as CEREC, use a special machine to fabricate crowns while waiting in the lounge.

You don’t need to go home with a temporary crown and wait another 2 – 3 weeks before you can get your smile restored, as is the case with traditional crowns.

With the modern digital dentistry technology at our disposal, you can get a precise, comfortable, safe, and quick dental procedure.

The term CEREC means ceramic restoration and is a progressive system that creates an all-ceramic crown during a single visit.

How Are the Same-Day Crowns Fabricated?

The fabrication of the same-day crown will take roughly two hours. The procedure uses a pen-sized camera, software that designs the dental crown, and a milling machine. The following steps are taken to fabricate your crown:

  • Our dentist near you will commence by preparing your tooth, which involves removing the decayed or damaged part. The tooth will be shaped so that the crown can fit.
  • Then, a reflective powder will be applied to your teeth.
  • Your teeth will be scanned using a wand that is attached to a computer. The computer generates 3D images of your teeth that are then edited with precision factoring in your tooth indentation, ridges, fissures, and pits.
  • Then using the Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software, a precise crown will be designed.
  • Our dentist will then use a shade guide to look for the ceramic material closest to your teeth’s color.
  • The computer will send the 3D image to the milling machine, which creates or carves out the crown according to the image from the ceramic block. It takes five minutes for the crown to be carved out.
  • After the crown has been carved out, our dentist will perform some finishing touches by glazing and staining it so that it is aesthetically pleasing.
  • Once the process is done, you will get the crown fixed, and you are good to go.

How Much Do Same-Day Crowns Cost?

The cost of same-day crowns isn’t that much different from traditional crowns. Also, you have to consider if you have insurance or not. If you have an insurance cover, you need to confirm if they cover the cost since this determines what you will pay in the end. In any case, these are things you can clarify during your initial visit.

What Are Some of the Benefits of Same-Day Crowns?

Some of the perks that you can expect from using same-day crowns are:

  • Better Precision

The use of CAD/CAM to fabricate your crown ensures that you get a precise, snug-fitting, and comfortable crown. This means that you can rule out human error when an impression is taken using the putty method. Therefore, there will be no need for our dentist to readjust the crown during the procedure.

Another plus about precision is that it gives a more pleasing finish that gives you a longer-lasting and natural-looking crown.

  • Cost-Effective

Same-day crowns eliminate the need for extra dental visits. So, there’s no need to pay any extra money for the visits and temporary crowns.

  • Saves on Time

It may take close to 3 weeks to receive your permanent crown if you are going for the traditional crowns. With same-day crowns, you can pop in the office, and in a couple of hours, your smile is as good as new.
